In addition, I'd like to put in a plug for a FREE app for smartphones--DUOLINGO. It is a super fun app to learn any of a number of languages in small pieces. It incorporates listening, reading, writing, and speaking in the app--all parts of learning a language. I am using to learn Italian right now and it is AWESOME.
